Suede armour

As you remember I was working on creation of suede armour a couple of days ago. As promised, here is the result.

I have put it through endurance test, during the regular game of Bath Branch Fools and Heroes game, while monstering. It has survived and worked really well. It's comfortable, thick enough to soften the impact of hits and what's most important, it's light.

Do you like to have your hands free?

I do. So as G, my husband. His current character, is planning to become a librarian Templar, therefore he not only needs a book to write down his prayers and God's miracles, but also all his findings and records.

His book should be always with him, on all missions, so carrying it has become an issue. Especially, that his costume lacks pockets.

First came the idea to put the book into a pouch for protection from rain and such. The remains of suede in my cupboard seemed a good idea.

But then still, he'd need to carry it around... so then came two belts to create a strapping which will allow it to hang off his belt .

Now just put all these three items together

The book is a standard A4 format.  Belts - courtesy of Peacocks.
The end effect is quite tidy:

Ideas, ideas...

I have been silent for a few days now.
Obviously didn't make much, however, I am working on a piece of (my monster) suede armour.
My fingers hurt after punching and squeezing wholes and eyelets for the laces, but so far, it's looking good.

In the meantime... I have had a few ideas what to do with the lovely piece of red velvet lying in my cupboard.
I think this is going to be a nice lady's piece of clothing. I need to decide though if it's going to be a dress, or  a robe...

Well, I shall post updates and pictures of finished items soon. Till then.. be patient :-)

Monk

I have spent the day sewing this grey monk's robe.

The bottom, sleeves and neck are trimmed with a plain dark grey cotton.

And here is the end effect when added hood with a cowl.

As you can see, the model this time, is the correct size for the garment :-)

Grey and white

My new project to start on today.  This time it's grey woolly fabric intended for my husband's new character.
What is going to be? A monk's robe...

The fabric is a grainy weave of mix of grey and white, which gives it a bit of a rough look.

White canvas, actually it is an unbleached raw canvas fabric, so it is on more of a creamy side of shade.  I shall make an attempt to make a Templar's tabbard from it.  I chose this particular fabric, because it has been prepared for fabric painting as well. This means, that being an outer garment, it shall give an additional rain protection.

Wish me luck! The sewing starting now. Result, to be published :-)

Welcome to my world of fantasy costume

I have finally gathered enough courage to show you what I make.  The idea of creating costume came from the fact, that I am a small person and the world seems not to take notice of those who are 5ft tall and size 6-8... then the imagination started to bug my mind and my darling other half added many of his ideas as well. I also discovered I do have a lot of fun making it... so here I am .

Listed items are now available for sale.   Here we go:

Lilac suedette hood . Trimmed with multicoloured rope (white/gold/lilac). For sale at £30.00

Plain red cotton/polyester hood. For sale at £20.00

Suede patchwork hood with leather buckles.   Sold.

My favourite: Heavy wool, patched fabric with hand sewn leaves and a pipe hood. Perfect for any druidic/ nature loving character, or a hedge wizard.  Sold.

Patchwork real suede robe with a hood. Added buckles on the shoulders give an opportunity to fasten pauldrons or secure weapon belts/quivers. For sale at £50.00

Please note the sizes of the robes are actually large and sleeves should reach just a bit lower than an elbow. Due to my poor photographic skills (according to my loving husband) I had to do for the model... Hopefully soon I shall have a suitably sized model.
